A small project with a big library
StudyMonster began in Hong Kong as a set of picture cards for young learners. It is run by one person and a lot of patience, and it stays free because that is the point.
The original-art promise
Every picture on StudyMonster was drawn by hand by an illustrator we commissioned, in one consistent style. Nothing on a card is AI-generated, and nothing ever will be. We own the rights to all of it, so you can print and share the cards freely.
The library holds 3,443 pictures across 163 ready-made sets, and the same pictures are open to you in the builder.
What free means here
Everything that costs nothing to serve is free with no account: the sets, the builder, the game layouts, the guides and the audio QR codes. You give us no data. There are no cookies, no ads and no email wall.
A Supporter Pass pays only for things that need a server, such as voice recordings and saved sets. How support works.
The monster
The monster teacher is our help buddy. He stays small in the corner of the page and never appears on a printed card, so the cards are yours.
Who makes it
Christian, a teacher and graduate student, with help from Claude for the building and the checking. Mistakes on cards are corrected quickly: use Report a mistake and the fix goes into the next release.
