Word wall

What you need

Strips with one word and picture each, three per sheet. Cut and pin to a wall or fridge.

In the classroom

• Build the wall a few words at a time as they come up in class. Point to a strip and have children say it.
• Sort strips by first letter, by topic or by syllable count.

At home

• Put the strips where the child sees them every day: the fridge, the bathroom mirror.

On your own

• Cover the word, look at the picture, say it, then check.

Tips

• Print on colored paper by topic so the wall sorts itself.
